What is RunnerKit?

RunnerKit is a native macOS menu-bar app that saves the Xcode choices required to build and run an Apple project. It gives developers, terminal users, and coding agents a repeatable Run workflow outside Xcode.

Does RunnerKit replace Xcode?

No. RunnerKit uses the complete Xcode installation already on your Mac. It selects the toolchain for each run, asks Xcode to build, and then handles installation, launch, observation, and stopping without changing your global xcode-select setting.

Which projects and destinations can RunnerKit run?

RunnerKit works with discoverable Xcode projects and workspaces. It can launch macOS apps, Apple-platform simulators, and compatible physical devices reported by the selected Xcode installation. Swift Package Manager-only projects are not supported in v1.

How does RunnerKit work with coding agents?

Can RunnerKit live in the Dock too?

Yes. The menu-bar control is always present, while Dock presence is optional. Dock mode adds the standard app menus, a RunnerKit Dock menu, and reopen behavior that brings the configuration window forward.

Is RunnerKit safe to use with unfamiliar projects?

Building an Xcode project can execute scripts, package plugins, and macros. Interactive RunnerKit runs ask you to confirm unfamiliar projects. CLI runs intentionally bypass that prompt, so agents should only receive configurations for code you trust to execute.
